Beschreibung

This is an art beckoning cat by illustrator Mizusawa Sora. In Japan, the beckoning cat has long been a beloved symbol of good fortune. Since 2021, our company has been planning and operating a project called "Place where you meet cats" in collaboration with artists as a way to support rescued cats. This beckoning cat was created by an artist who supported the project, with the wish that it would bring more opportunities for rescued cats to connect with potential owners. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to organizations that run adoption events for rescued cats. The base beckoning cat is a Seto beckoning cat from Chugai Touen, a long-established pottery kiln in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, a town with a 1,000-year history of pottery. Each beckoning cat is a one-of-a-kind original painted piece, with acrylic paint applied to the base. Comes with a certificate of authenticity. *Materials Used: Acrylic paint, medium *Year of Production: 2023 *Certificate of Authenticity Available A traditional Japanese cat figurine with its front paws raised, in a pose that beckons people and good fortune. It is said to have originated in the Edo period from the townspeople's culture of Edo, and is now a beloved symbol of good fortune, primarily associated with business prosperity, attracting many customers, and improving financial luck, often found at the entrances of shops and in private homes. The blessings differ depending on which paw is raised; the right paw is said to beckon financial luck, while the left paw is said to beckon people and customers. Born in Hakodate City, Hokkaido. Resides in Tokyo. Studied at MJ Illustrations. Mainly active in the fields of book cover illustration, advertising, and music-related work. Recent major works include the cover illustration for "The Four Seasons Quartet" (Ali Smith/Shinchosha) and the overall visual design for the packaging of the Western confectionery brand "Neko Chef" (Shukurei). http://mizusawasora.com/ Founded in 1952 in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture.
