Description
A handcrafted wooden comb made from long-dried Satsuma tsuge wood
This is a traditional Japanese detangling comb made from Satsuma tsuge wood (Japanese boxwood), carefully dried over a long period and finished by skilled craftsmen.
Because tsuge wood naturally reduces static electricity, the comb is gentle on hair, helping to prevent tangling, split ends, and breakage.
It allows the hair to be smoothed naturally without pulling or damage.
The comb is traditionally maintained with camellia oil, which keeps the wood beautiful and durable while also giving the hair natural shine and moisture during use.
Over time, the comb gradually fits the hand and the hair, becoming more comfortable and familiar with each use — making it a lifelong personal tool rather than a disposable product.
Tsuge wood is soft against the scalp, and the rounded tips provide a pleasant massage effect, which may help promote blood circulation and scalp health.
Tsuge (boxwood) has long been considered one of the best materials for combs in Japan due to its dense fibers, strength, elasticity, and durability.
Among them, “Kokusan Hon-Tsuge” (domestic Japanese tsuge) is especially valued.
This comb is made from Satsuma tsuge grown in Ibusuki, Kagoshima Prefecture, southern Japan.
The trees require over 30 years of growth before they become suitable as comb material.
After careful selection, the wood then goes through several more years of processing and manufacturing, resulting in a comb that is stable, strong, and exceptionally high in quality.
This is not just a hair tool — it is a piece of Japanese craftsmanship, natural care culture, and sustainable beauty.
