A-BONSAI Mini Moyogi is an artificial bonsai (craft bonsai) that mimics the traditional Japanese pine (Pinus parviflora), a representative tree species of Japanese bonsai, in a traditional shaped form. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted by Japanese artisans, so strictly speaking, no two are exactly alike in the world; each buyer receives a unique item. Unlike live bonsai, it requires no daily watering, sunlight, wire shaping, or seasonal fertilization, making it a sustainable bonsai that will not wither. Its compact and lightweight design means it can be displayed almost anywhere. Also, unlike live bonsai, it does not require quarantine procedures when taken overseas, so you can take it anywhere in the world with you. In short, you can enjoy the refined atmosphere of Japanese aesthetics anytime, anywhere. Since it is not a plant and does not contain soil, it is hygienic and pairs very well with meals. In terms of bonsai size classification, A-BONSAI Mini Moyogi is categorized as a miniature bonsai. It is said that during the Edo period, daimyo (feudal lords) created small, portable bonsai trees so they could spend time with them during their long journeys to and from Edo. This sustainable art piece, imbued with a story, recreates Edo-period bonsai, which originated approximately 400 years ago.
A-BONSAI Mini is crafted by artisans in Tokyo who produce decorative wood for Hina dolls. Amidst declining demand for Hina doll decorations, this contributes to the preservation of traditional craft techniques.
This set includes four items in a 15cm cube box: "A-BONSAI Mini Mogyoi," a "gold folding screen," a "tatami mat," and a "postcard-sized card with the story of the bonsai craftsmanship printed in English and Japanese."
