About Banshu Tatsuno Leather
Tatsuno in Hyogo Prefecture, known as Banshu, is a historic centre of Japanese leather tanning with world-class effluent treatment standards. Blessed with abundant water and a mild climate, the district is ideally suited to leather production. Carefully selected hides are treated with oil applied by hand, one piece at a time, producing leather that gains depth of character the more it is used.
Everyday Use and Aging
The slim construction keeps the wallet from bulking up in a bag or pocket, while still giving ample room for cards and banknotes - a design that suits users of any age or gender. As the leather ages, the color and luster shift, so your wallet becomes a one-of-a-kind piece over time.
Development Story
The earliest versions of this wallet showed many scratches and creases and were not good enough to sell, and the camel and green colorways were ordinary. Through repeated improvement, the maker refined the dyeing to the clean colors shown today, reduced scratches and creases, and kept the natural character of the leather intact. Early customer feedback was not kind, but the maker kept improving, and the result has become a product the company is proud of.
