Description

This is a traditional Japanese Tokoname ware teapot. This teapot features a lovely motif of Japan's beloved cherry blossoms, letting you savor Japanese culture to the fullest!

Features

The teapot brings out the natural qualities of the soil with which it was made and enhances the flavor of the tea, making it mellow. One handy point is that the tea strainer can be washed from either side!

Our Story

Tokoname ware teapots are chiefly produced in Tokoname, a city in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. The clay used in Tokoname ware is rich in iron oxide, which gives it a reddish tone called "shudei" in Japanese when fired. Given the rich iron oxide content, Tokoname ware teapots help absorb astringent and bitter flavors in tea and make it more mellow. They also offer excellent water resistance and do not absorb moisture. The material removes excess astringency and bitterness, drawing out the rich flavor of the tea.

This product features a tea strainer attached to the inside of the teapot. Instead of putting a metal mesh inside, a strainer made out of the same red clay is built into the teapot and fired together with it to make it a single piece. Since there is no metallic odor or off-flavor from a separate strainer, it brings out the true flavor of the tea to the fullest. Ceramesh tea strainers have another major advantage: when you have to wash a standard metal tea strainer, fine tea leaves get stuck and clogged in it...has that ever happened to you?

If so, then you must try Ceramesh tea strainers, which have wider openings than metal mesh, so you don't have to worry about tea leaves getting stuck! This teapot lets you enjoy delicious tea the way it was meant to be served!
