The color of the product will change with use, but this is inherent in the nature of the charcoal.

The firing of the bamboo charcoal powder into the clay gives it a unique appearance, and enhances the vessel with the benefits of the bamboo charcoal. When tap water is poured into the cup, countless invisible pores in the bamboo charcoal absorb excess substances, and the mineral in the bamboo charcoal dissolves into the water, transforming it into a mineral water-like beverage. Beer becomes creamy and foamy, and the taste is mellowed, while coffee becomes smoother as the impurities are removed. Bamboo charcoal is also said to have antibacterial properties and the ability to restore substances to their original state.

Features

Pottery with charcoal kneaded into the clay does exist, but this product is coated (fired) with fine bamboo charcoal powder that is produced during the carbonization of bamboo and baked into the surface. This gives the pottery a unique appearance and luster due to the minerals and proteins in the bamboo charcoal. The baked bamboo charcoal adsorbs excess substances in the beverage, and the minerals within the bamboo dissolve into the drink. The adsorption capacity and mineral content of the bamboo charcoal may decrease with use, and some charcoal may peel off, but it can be restored by re-baking in a Sumiyoshi.

Our Story

Charcoal products from Sumiyoshi. are designed to make effective use of forest resources such as thinned wood from forest and bamboo grove maintenance. One of the reasons for the lack of progress in forest maintenance is that the thinned wood and other resources generated through forest thinning are of low value because there is no adequate place to use them. By manufacturing specialized charcoal from these resources and developing high value-added products that make use of the charcoal's various functionality and benefits, we are adding value to forest resources. In this way, we are engaged in a positive environmental feedback loop where the more our products reach the market, the more forests and bamboo groves can be maintained.

Notes

- Do not use in microwave ovens, ovens, or over an open flame (except for earthenware pots).
- Avoid freezing the product, as it may cause cracking.
- When washing, do not use detergent; wash lightly with cold water or lukewarm water and a wet sponge, and wipe thoroughly and allow to air dry.
- Do not use in a dishwasher or dish dryer.
- The effect will last longer if you boil it once a month and then dry it in the sun. The color of the item will change with use, but this is an inherent aspect of charcoal ceramics.

About TOYOUKE

There is a famous shrine called “Ise Jingu” in Ise, Mie Prefecture, Japan.
Ise Jingu has two shrine structures. The outer shrine, which enshrines Toyouke – no – Omikami
and the inner shrine, which enshrines Amaterasu – Omikami.
Oyouke – no – Omikami is the Japanese goddess of the harvest and she serves Amaterasu –
Omikami, the head goddess of the Shinto religion.
We named our company “Toyouke” because we always want to show the same caring and
loyalty to our customers that Toyouke – no Omikami shows to Amaterasu.
