This product is made with a patented process using 60% couverture chocolate. It has been selected as a local specialty product of Kawasaki City and as the No. 1 hit product for this year's Valentine's Day by the Nikkei.

Our Story

When the celebrity chefs did not really enjoy my chocolate cake, which was featured as my specialty, and failed to understand its appeal, I was prompted to make my own delicious chocolate cake without being held back by existing production methods. Instead of making the cake with cocoa powder, I made it with actual chocolate packed with umami flavor, reduced the number of filler ingredients as much as possible, and developed a patented technique for emulsifying egg whites with the chocolate to complete the cake. When our Tachikawa store was featured in the Nikkei for the lines on Valentine's Day, major confectionery companies tried to imitate our product, so we applied for a patent, which was granted three years later.

Today, we sell around 140,000 cakes during the Valentine's Day period in the first half of February. This product has become wildly popular, selling 400,000 pieces each year. We have also collaborated with Mr. Sawanoi of Ozawa Shuzo, a sake brewery in Okutama (also in the Tama region of Tokyo), to create a version of Mushi Chocolat that incorporates the use of sakekasu (sake lees) as part of the ecute Tachikawa project. While this was a short-lived project, we received so many inquiries from our customers that we began selling it as a regular product.

Notes

Although we inspect the product during shipment, please open it only after confirming that the Ageless Eye oxygen indicator on the back of the product packaging is pink. If the indicator is gray before you open the product, the packaging may have been damaged and the oxygen scavenger may no longer be effective, leading to a risk of mold. Please contact us without opening the product in such cases. The indicator will turn gray after the product is opened.

About Us

Since its opening in 2004, ""Il Fait Jour"" has continued to create attractive and unique confections based on traditional methods of making confections widely popular in the south of France, but with its own unique twist.

We strictly select ingredients such as wheat, butter, salt, milk, cacao, chocolate, nuts, sugar, and fruit, no matter how small the quantity, and take our time to refine our production methods through repeated trial productions, so that our customers can enjoy delicate and deep flavors through the synergy of the individuality and combination of ingredients. The synergistic effect of the individuality and combination of the ingredients is used to create a delicate and deep flavor.

In order to deliver not only the flavor, aroma, vivid color, and beauty that only French confectionery can offer, but also higher quality and safer products, we are also very particular about the availability of ingredients, and we have expanded our horizons to the entire world, both domestically and internationally, investigating the climate, soil, production methods, processing methods, and other factors of the producing regions to develop our own acquisition routes.

Each and every confectionery produced by ""Il Fait Jour"" is a ""work of art"" that we are proud to offer to our customers. We are proud to offer our confectionaries as ""works of art"" with no compromise.

We respect the individuality of the ingredients we carefully select from all over the world, and we want our customers to be able to enjoy the taste of delicious ingredients using delicious production methods. This is ""Il Fait Jour"" commitment.

Rich and Fragrant Orange Steamed Chocolate!

The orange-flavored steamed chocolate from a French patisserie originating in Kawasaki, crafted by a chef who trained at Lecrin Ginza, is a dense, 3-layer classic chocolate treat. When I received it, the expiration date was about a month and a half away. I followed the instructions for the best way to enjoy it: 1) eat it as is, 2) warm it up, and 3) chill it. I tried all three ways, and I found it tastiest when warmed, followed by chilled, and finally at room temperature. When warmed, the rich chocolate on the bottom layer melts, so be careful! The subtle orange peel fragrance adds just the right touch. Each piece has 92 kcal, so be mindful not to overindulge. Thank you for the treat!

The Best Cake Shop in Tachikawa

The staff is very polite, and the prices are neither too high nor too low. This is my favorite cake shop in Tachikawa! By the way, I recommend eating their famous steamed chocolate chilled—it’s absolutely delicious! Thank you for the treat!

Fragrant Orange Steamed Chocolate

I was kindly offered samples at the store and ended up purchasing the "Orangina," a steamed chocolate with orange peel. The fragrance was wonderful, and it was delicious!

Perfect Combination of Chocolate and Orange!

received a gift box of gateau chocolates, including an orange-flavored one. Specifically, I got some steamed chocolates as well, which were lighter and refreshing. The chocolates were individually wrapped, about 4cm in diameter, and the combination of orange and chocolate was exquisite—soft and fluffy. This is from a well-known shop, but I don’t get the chance to visit often. I’ll keep a note of it. I also tried their chocolate chip sable, which was crunchy with plenty of chocolate chips. I think it’s a solid contender among baked treats. They seem to have shops in Tachikawa and Shinyurigaoka, so I hope to stop by when I get the chance.

Delightful Steamed Chocolate from My Cousin!

I received a gift from my cousin when I returned to Nagano. It was from a patisserie originating in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, and it seems that their signature item is "Steamed Chocolate." This treat was incredibly rich and chocolatey. Given how dense the flavor is, the portion size is perfectly balanced—neither too much nor too little. The orange-flavored version looks the same as the plain one, but one bite and you’re hit with a burst of orange flavor. It's refreshing, and I think I might prefer the orange version!
